Family Road Trip April 1st - 5th 2009 PART 1 NASHVILLE

We flew from Dallas to Nashville and met Harry there. He had flown there earlier in the week for work. We all know what he is like - he flew there to work so we saved on his airfare!! Tight Arse!! Great start to our morning - mum misplaced her purse so all hell broke loose. We searhed everywhere for it. In the end dad rang the National Australia Bank to cancel the credit card. Molly found it in mums new handbag!!! (well we have been shopping a bit). Back on the phone to the bank to reissue card. So we finally get to the airport and low and behold we sat at the wrong Gate for 2 hours!! We had to make a mad dash to the other side of the airport to catch our flight! I miss the small Australian airports. Harry met us at the Nashville airport and we collected our Minivan headed to the hotel to drop our stuff off.

For dinner we went to The Gaylord Opry . It is such a pretty place. It is like a village inside a huge glass dome. In the morning we headed to the Country Music Hall of Fame. I have a real appreication for Country Music since living in Texas. This place was amazing! All of the history they have preserved.

We also visited RCA Studio B . This is were there were over 1000 No 1 hits were recorded between 1957-1977. It was amazing to stand in the same room where Elvis recorded so many hits.

The piano behind is was Elvis' favorite. He would play it for hours before recording. He wanted to buy it but they talked him out of it.

Well we heading back to the hotel for a nana nap! We knew there were going to be Severe Storms that day. The area we were in was on Tornado Watch, It just started to rain as we pulled into the carpark. Turned the TV on to see where the storm was headed. The Weather Channel's sirens were going off saying Tornado Warning!! This means there has been a Tornado sighted! Mum and dad came down to our room cause they were on the top story of the hotel. The tornado turned 2 semis over on the road we were on 30 mins prior!!

Texas Wild Weather!! March 30th 2009

Gotta love the weather over here. The cloud look like something outta a sci fi movie! This was taken a few days b4 the hail storm.

Well Harrys left for Nashville and left the rest of to see quite a storm! We had watched the news that night and they said it was only 30% chance of rain. Well got the kids into bed (including mum and dad) and layed on the couch to watch some TV. At 10pm i noticed some lightning out in the distance and turned over to the weather channel. The storm was heading straight for us in Keller!! They were saying "this storm may produce golf ball size hail". I went and told mum and dad and bought the kids downstairs. When the hail started to hit the roof mum reakons she nearly flew down the stairs!! The storm only lasted 10 mins but it produced the biggest hail i have ever seen!! Me being me had to go out after the storm to collect some evidence. Just in case no one beleived me even though i had mum and dad here to prove it!!
There were quite a bit of damage from the storm. All the cars in the streets had huge dints over them. And there have been a number of houses with new roofs!

Mum and Dad come to Texas

March saw the arrival of my mum and dad in Texas. It was very exciting to have them here to show them around and how our lives have changed in the past 12 months. Dad sat with his arms crossed in the passsenger seat the whole time!! Nothing like being in the car on the wrong side of the road with your daughter driving!! We managed to fit quite alot in while they were here. On thier first day I took them to Cabela's http://www.cabelas.com/ . It is kinda like a huge Rays Tent City but 10 times the size! Everything is bigger in Texas. The kids love this place. There are taxidermied animals everywhere!! And when you are in Texas you gotta hold a gun.

Like I said "Everything is bigger in Texas"! Even the torches. Dad's face just lit up!

Home in time for a beer and a fish in the back yard.

While I cooked a Texan favorite! Steak and a fully loaded baked potato!!
